3rd Grader's Quilt and Chapel

Sammy made this square for the quilt.  I love the cute little face....

Grandpa and Grandma were able to come and watch the performance.  I love that they get to be here for neat things like this chapel.  The kids love having them around. (So do we!)

Last week Sam's class did their chapel performance.  It was so much fun to listen to them sing their songs and recite their parts to the little "mini play" they did.  The class made a blanket which they are going to give away to someone who needs to be "wrapped up in God's love." I think an injured soldier may receive this quilt.  I cannot believe how cute the blanket turned out.  Each kid made one square for the quilt. They had to take a letter of the alphabet and write a Bible verse on their square that used that letter.  The kids are so creative.

While You Were Out

BEFORE............................

AFTER.............................

When Jeff and Jake were down in Mexico this past week, I did a "While You Were Out" makeover to our bedroom.  I am soooo happy with the results!  The room has such a fresh/clean feel to it now.  "It was almost depressing before" (that was Jeff's comment).   I am so glad he likes the new look to the room.  The next "re-do" to the room will be new windows and some new window coverings.  But for now, we will enjoy what's been done.

HIT weekend!

This past weekend was the Hillcrest Invitational Tournament in Fergus.  This is always such a great event.  Hillcrest puts together a huge basketball tournament where games are being played all over the town (on any open court).  There are 4 different divisions of play depending on the abilities on the team (division 1, division 2, division 3 and Classic).  This year there were 64 teams involved!  Wow!  That's a lot of basketball.  Taylor was on a father/son team in division 3. His team actually played for the championship for his division.  As you can tell by the look on his face in the picture, they did not win the game and came in second.  I thought the whole weekend was a blast.   I wish I had pictures from the dunking contest during half time of the Division 1 championship game.  Really fun!  I am already looking forward to next year. Maybe I'll put together a team of girls from years gone by......  :) .   I wonder if my body could handle it!!!  I don't really think so.  Jeff played last year and got an elbow to the eye on the very first rebound he was in on.  Next play down the court he got an elbow to the ribs....  I may rethink putting a team together.

The WALL!

A small project took place while Jeff was in Mexico!  My dad came over and hung drywall (along with Taylor) on this hideous wall that has been my daily irritation for the last number of months! The wall is in the living room and did have paneling (with really ugly wallpaper on it, I might add) on it until about 3 months ago.  We ripped the paneling off and it has been a really ugly wall of dirty "studs" since!  My dad wanted to surprise Jeff with a clean wall when he came back from Mexico. Well, needless to say, I love the drywall wall!!!!  Anything but that paneling or the studs is great!  I wonder how long it will take us to tape, mud and paint?!!!  Who knows.....I'm just enjoying what is there for now.

Off to Mexico!

Jeff and Jacob headed off to Mexico this morning at 6:30am!  How exciting to be going on a mission trip!  Jacob's friend Tony is going also - as well as about 30 other Hillcrest  students and chaperons.  They will spend the week in Mexico working at an orphanage, doing outreach in some parks and a number of other things.   We will be praying for them all week long - for safety and also (as Jacob said) "that the kids and adults would understand the message we came to bring."  I cannot wait to hear all about it.

Log House and Homested

Jeff and I got to sneak away with our friends Gregg and Marie to a great Bed and Breakfast near a little town call Vergas.  We were there the past few days and had such a great time.  It was so relaxing.  The weather was gorgeous, the setting was beautiful and being with our friends was the best.  We couldn't have asked for a nicer time.

Wacky Hair Day

The boys had wacky hair day at Morning Son.  They chose Mohawks.  We actually shaved Jacob's head.  Sammy had an "S" shaved into the back of his head.  We colored it green.   The picture didn't turn out too great of his "S" so you will have to use your imagination.  :)  They all looked great.

50th Anniversary!

Some of my parents good friends were able to join us for dinner Saturday night.

My mom's two sisters, Jeanette and Rozanne were able to join us.  It's always fun chatting with them.

This past weekend we officially celebrated my parent's 50th wedding anniversary.  My brothers and sister and our families went out to Thumper Pond Resort.  It was such a great time.  The kids LOVED all the swimming and the water slides.  I also think everyone enjoyed the dinner Saturday night and the informal program.  The grandkids acrostic of  GRACE  (heart) KERM was a highlight.  Each of the grandkids took one of the letters in their grandparent's name and thought of many words starting with that letter which reminded them of that particular grandparent.  I thought the E for expressions for both Mom and Dad were especially funny.

It was so nice to have an opportunity to honor Mom and Dad and their commitment and tell them the many things we love about them. Adventure, solid relationships, encouragement, kindness, support in ministry and laughter are some of the key words that I remember from the evening.  I thought the evening ended very appropriately with my dad playing the guitar and singing "Do Lord".  It brought back many fond memories.

Congratulations Mom and Dad!  I love you!!!
